Lake of the Woods Original Weekly Fishing Report!

The surface temperature in the river has dropped below the 40degree mark

October 23, 2016 at 3:59 PM

The surface temperature in the river has dropped below the 40degree mark.  There have been great schools of Shiner minnows running in the river and outside the Lighthouse Gap.  There are still some opportunities to get a great fall fishing trip in before the end of the month.

Anglers had provided many reports this past week and weekend.  Some were as far away as Twin Islands and all the way to Frontier landing.  There were great reports of many fish caught and some nice trophies!  Many anglers were doing great in 20 feet of water along Pine Island.  Our charters were still heading north with about a gallon of bait minnows a day.  Fishing was great and they brought back very few minnows. Gold with glow pink seemed to be the favorite with gold and orange coming in second.

The forecast shows nice late October temperatures holding out this week.  Highs around 48 degrees and lows staying above freezing.  A couple of the days ahead show a 30% chance of some rain.

FISH ON!
