Large schools of Walleye and Sauger are filling Big Traverse Bay!

Large schools of Walleye and Sauger are filling Big Traverse Bay! The fishing has been great and the catching, phenomenal! We have mostly been trolling with plugs as the bait fishing activity has become sporadic at best. We have been fishing in 33-35 feet of water using bright colored plugs. There have been so many large schools of Walleye in different parts of the large bay which allows the Guides to spread out and cover miles with one pass.
We should continue into late August and early September with this excellent fishing!
As the educational schools (not Walleye, at Lake of the Woods those schools are always IN) start to get back in session and we think of changing gears to fall we get excited for this upcoming season! The current excellent fishing should continue through August and September, we will be looking for the shiner minnows to be congregating outside the Gaps getting ready for a river run. Also this fall, the MTT Championship September 12th and 13th is always a great event, the Chili Bowl on October 12th has been a local favorite and fun is had by all, we expect nothing less for its 4th year. The Chili Bowl field is already half full of invitational members and we anticipate again on September 1st when registration opens to the public it will fill again.
Normally at this time in August we are excited to have a summer cool down but this year we have been ahead of schedule! The forecast for the week looks incredible again. Highs are forecasted in the 70’s and lows into 40’s with light wind and sunshine.
Winter rates are out. Check out our website and give us a call. Don’t get left out in the cold!
